In response, Team India managed to score 47/2 in 6.5 overs before rain interrupted play. The umpires declared India the winner under the Duckworth-Lewis method.
India’s fast bowlers staged an incredible comeback in this game. Jasprit Bumrah, returning after 11 months or 327 days, took two wickets in the first over and was also named the Player of the Match. Similarly, Prasidh Krishna who was making his international T20I debut after a successful ODI performance, also made an impact by taking two wickets. Both fast bowlers had returned to the field after recovering from injuries and displayed an excellent performance.

Ireland’s batting struggled in this match. Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah, returning after 327 days, took early wickets in the first over, dismissing Andrew Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker. After losing four wickets for just 30 runs during the Powerplay, Ireland managed to reach 139/7 in 20 overs. Bumrah and Krishna helped India push Ireland into a difficult position. In the middle overs, Ravi Bishnoi also dismissed Ireland captain Paul Stirling’s wicket and Mark Adair’s wicket.
After losing five wickets for 31 runs, Ireland was in a tough situation. However, Mark Adair and Curtis Campher added 28 runs to bring Ireland into a slightly better position. Adair fell for 16 runs to Bishnoi.
In the final over, Adair contributed 22 runs. Mark Adair batted in the final over and scored 22 runs. He hit two sixes and a boundary against Arshdeep Singh. Prasidh Krishna’s Debut Performance in the First Match Bumrah struck early in the innings, taking two wickets in the first over and denting Ireland’s start. Despite MacCarthy’s unbeaten 51 runs, Ireland managed to score only 139/7 in 20 overs. Bumrah claimed two wickets while giving up 24 runs. He gave away only 1 run in the 19th over. While Rinku Singh from Aligarh made his T20I debut, he didn’t get a chance to bat.
Campher-MacCarthy’s 57-run Partnership Ireland faced difficulties, losing Dockrell (1) and Mark Adair (16) early, and their score was 59/6. But Curtis Campher and Barry McCarthy formed a 57-run partnership in 44 balls, taking Ireland’s score beyond 100. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Campher for 39 runs in 33 balls, breaking the partnership. MacCarthy remained unbeaten with a brisk half-century of 51 runs from 33 balls.
Yashasvi-Ruturaj’s Start Chasing a target of 140 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad provided a good start for India. Both batsmen shared a 46-run partnership in 38 balls. However, Craig Young dismissed Yashasvi for 24 runs in just 23 balls and took Tilak Verma’s wicket on the next ball for 0. Gaikwad made 19 runs off 16 balls, and Sanju Samson was not out on 1 run when rain halted play. The remaining game couldn’t be resumed due to the rain, and India secured the win.”
Bumrah was awarded a $500 prize for winning Player of the Match. This is almost equal to 41,000 Indian Rupees when converted to INR. McCarthy, a player representing Ireland, received recognition for his exceptional performance. While representing Ireland, he amassed an impressive half-century(50). McCarthy was able to score 51 runs off of 33 balls without being hit. McCarthy hit four fours and four sixes over his innings. As a result of his efforts, he received the $500 Best Striker of the Match award.
